Programmable Light

The light employs over 300 red (660nm) LEDs. The LED array is divided into forty-eight segments, each of which can be independently selected on or off to create the optimal lighting effect. This can also be employed where multiple lighting set-ups are needed in one field.

This "intelligent" lighting device consists of five separate concentric rings of LEDs. Each LED ring direct light at a unique depression angle, ranging from 70 to 10 degrees below horizontal, and in 30 degree increments in azimuth.

The user can select different lighting configurations using our RS232 interface. The LED array is contained in a 10" diameter. housing with a 3" diameter. opening in the center to allow insertion of a large lens or camera.

Application:

This multi-directional concentric ring light provides the ultimate lighting flexibility allowing the user to inspect different portions of a target in sequence with a single camera and inspection system.

The lighting pattern can be optimized to highlight specific features in areas such as:

1. Location/ position verification
2. Edge detection
3. Surface detection
4. Two or three dimensional verification
5. Geometrical verification
6. Label recognition
7. Defect detection
